The biggest barrier to adoption for most dogs is finding a way to stand out. This struggle is even more difficult for special needs dogs. How could Volvo, known for innovative ways of using tech to save lives, help save the lives of these dogs in need?
Idea
Volvo launched Awwgmented Reality, an augmented reality experience that lets you virtually meet and ‘bring home’ a dog before you adopt rather than judging a picture and bio alone.
Execution
Awwgmented Reality was created with volumetric capture, an emerging technology that uses more than 100 cameras to film a real 3D object—like a dog—from every possible angle. We then took the captured film and turned the dogs into AR animals that could be viewed in your environment using the camera on your phone.
No app. No downloads. Just a QR code and a URL that bring the virtual dogs home with you until you can bring one home for real.
